Miscreants armed with wooden logs and bottles entered the premises of Tamil magazine Nakkheeran in Chennai this morning and went on a rampage. Some cars and two-wheelers parked in the campus were damaged in the incident, according to sources in Nakkheeran.
Editors, reporters and other staff of the magazine are holed up inside their office, which came under attack since morning.

The attacks are allegedly being led by AIADMK party workers, who had burnt copies of the current issues of the magazine in many places across the State.
One such group allegedly locked the metal gates of the Nakkheeran office from the outside. “We are trapped inside,” said a Nakkheeran reporter.
A senior AIADMK leader said an article in the magazine against their leader had infuriated the party cadre.
Greater Chennai Police Commissioner J K Tripathy said the situation has been brought under control now and sufficient protection has been given to the magazine’s office.
“The police have picked up some men in connection with the incidents,” he said. – TWL Bureau
