Thinles Chosdup and Nirajana Adhya, who will participate in the Lakme Fashion Week's GenNext category, are set to spread the hues and shades of Ladakh on the ramp. They feel the Indian fashion industry needs research-based projects for growth.

Their collection is called Koslak, which means 'clothes' in the Ladakhi language. The duo spent two years researching on handloom and the traditional costumes of Ladakh. Their collection will project the design aesthetics of Ladakhi men and women.

"The word Koslak truly defines the idea of a garment," said Chosdup. The collection consists of colourful dresses and trousers.

The young designers strongly believe that inspirations do not come knocking on doors. According to them, fashion is a form of individual expression and they simply found themselves expressing it in various forms like clothing, art and lifestyle.

The two are excited about participating in the LFW Winter-Festive 2011, August 16-21 in Mumbai. They say they want to globalise the Indian fashion industry and reduce the gap between Indian and international fashion.

"We could not be more thrilled. Lakme Fashion Week is a fabulous platform for making a mark in the fashion industry. We feel that the Indian fashion Industry needs research based projects and that is exactly what we have tried to do with our collection," said Adhya. - IANS
