Siliguri/Kolkata
10-July-2019
A car with two tourists along with the driver fell into the river Teesta near the Coronation Bridge at Sevoke of West Bengal's Darjeeling district on Wednesday, police said.
The vehicle, going from Siliguri to Gangtok, fell into the river after it skidded off the road when the driver apparently lost control.
The hilly area has been experiencing rain over the past four days which worsened the road condition.
Reports said the two tourists were from Jaipur.
Some eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when the driver tried to overtake a car.
Divers and rafting teams have been engaged to rescue the tourists. IANS
