Ghaziabad police books ex-SHO for extortion
19-July-2019
The Ghaziabad Police has registered an FIR against a former SHO and two sub-inspectors for allegedly torturing and extorting money from a railway contractor after implicating him in a false case.
On the orders of an anti-corruption court in Meerut, the Sihani Gate police registered cases against ex-SHO Sanjay Pandey and two sub-inspectors (SI) Aniruddh and Sachin.
The FIR was lodged on a complaint by railway contractor Tushar Goel, a resident of Lohia Nagar here, who alleged that the then SHO and two sub-inspectors who had been investigating a case against him, tortured him for more than four months, raided his house at midnight, forcibly took him to the police station and also harassed his wife and parents.
Goel alleged he was only allowed to go back home to bring Rs two lakh as bribe to clear his name in a "concocted" case related to cheque bounce. They also threatened him with jail if he did not pay the bribe.
