Special events to mark Kargil war's 20th anniversary

The 20th anniversary of Kargil Diwas will be celebrated with fanfare by the Central Command in Lucknow.
Special functions will be organised at all centre across the seven states -- Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha -- under the Central Command to pay homage to the martyrs.
From July 22 school children here will participate in painting competitions and debates on the theme of bravery of soldiers. They will also be taken to the Smritika War Memorial on July 26 to pay homage to martyrs.
Nineteen Kargil veterans will interact with children to share their experiences.
A musical event will be organised at the Janeshwar Misra Park on July 27 and at the Husainabad Clock Tower on July 28.
The Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on July 26 every year to commemorate India's victory in the Kargil war and to honour war heroes.
