05-August-2019
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan called the Modi government's decision to revoke Article 370 a historic move.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday proposed to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir and said the state will be split into two Union Territories: Jammu and Kashmir with an Assembly and Ladakh without one.
Chouhan said in a tweet: "Today, the dream of crores of Indians, cherished since the time of Jan Sangh, has come true."
Chouhan also thanked Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for abrogating Article 370 and 35A which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and defined permanent citizens in the state.
In another tweet, Chouhan said it was like a dream come true, a pledge fulfilled. "Two sets of laws in one nation cannot run together. It is a tribute to Syama Prasad Mukherjee who fought for one nation, one law," he said. -IANS
