Yogi govt to plant 22 cr saplings in a day in UP

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday launched a massive plantation drive by planting a sapling in Jaiti Khera village of Lucknow. The state government plans to create a world record by planting 22 crore saplings in a day.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that next year, the state would set a target of planting 25 crore saplings in a day.
He asked the forest officials to identify the trees that are over 100-year-old and take steps to preserve them as heritage trees.
The Chief Minister also presented moringa saplings to five women as a symbolic gesture.
State Forest Minister Dara Singh Chauhan said a sum of Rs 100 crore had been provided from the Chief Minister's Contingency Fund for the plantation drive, under which saplings planted have been geotagged to ensure monitoring of their growth.
He said that all ministers and legislators were participating in the plantation drive. IANS
