Waiver of water dues AAP's act in desperation: BJP
27-August-2019
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said here on Tuesday Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced water dues waiver in desperation and to hide failures.
Demanding a report card on five years, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta said Kejriwal had made the announcement "only to cover up his failures". There were no water supply pipelines for 50 per cent of Delhi's population and wherever pipes had been laid water meters had not been installed, he said.
"In place of announcing freebies for political gain, Kejriwal should strengthen the DTC fleet and take care of its other requirements," Gupta said.
Demanding a white paper on the arrear scam, Gupta said Kejriwal had not connected a single slum with the pipeline.
Rajya Sabha MP and former Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel raised the question about people who had honestly paid their water bills. As Delhi Assembly elections were only four months away, Kejriwal had been constantly lying to the people out of desperation, he added.
"Waivers like these reflect the desperation and sad situation of Kejriwal," Goel said.
The tanker mafia had grown manifold as the AAP members illegally interacted with them, Goel said and added, he would expose these illegal activities. IANS
