Sri Lankan PM arrives in Maldives on official visit

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived in the Maldives on an official visit on Monday at an invitation by the atoll nation's President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
During his visit, Wickremesinghe will hold talks with Solih on strengthening relations between Sri Lanka and the Maldives, which will be further progressed by several cooperation agreements scheduled to be signed between the two governments, according to Xinhua news agency.
These agreements include facilitation of visa arrangements between the governments of the Maldives and Sri Lanka, Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) on matters in higher education and water supply sectors and on vocational training and youth development.
Wickremesinghe, during his stay, will also be chairing the 4th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC), scheduled to be held from September 3 to September 4 in the Maldives. IANS
