China urges US to discard 'Cold-War mentality'
16-September-2019
China on Monday urged the US to discard the "Cold-War mentality and zero-sum game mindset" and view Beijing and the relations between the two countries in an objective and rational way.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks in response to a speech by US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Ford, who said the American government is formulating a strategy to address potential "security challenges" Beijing poses to Washington and its allies.
Hua said Ford's speech "disregarded the truth, arbitrarily discredited and distorted China's domestic and foreign policies and incited the so-called 'China threat', fully exposing some US officials' Cold-War mentality and zero-sum game mindset", Xinhua news agency reported.
"This is very dangerous," the spokesperson said.
"We urge relevant officials in the US to abandon the Cold-War mentality and zero-sum game mindset, adopt an objective and rational view towards China and China-US relations, and focus more on promoting mutually beneficial cooperation," added the spokesperson. IANS
