Odisha government alerts collectors on possible floods
25-September-2019
The Odisha government on Wednesday asked district collectors to keep administrative machinery ready in view of intense rainfall that might cause a flood and waterlogging situation in the state.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena asked the district collectors to be prepared for the possible flood and waterlogging in the event of intense rainfall.
A cyclonic circulation over west-central and adjoining the southwest Bay of Bengal off south Andhra has been triggering torrential spells of rainfall across the state since Tuesday morning.
The Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre informed that moderate thunderstorm and lightning with moderate to intense spells of rainfall is likely to occur at some places in several districts.
The districts are Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, Balasore, Bolangir, Bargarh, Khurdha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Gajapati and Keonjhar.
The Met Department has issued additional warning for Bhubaneswar and Cuttack which are already submerged.
