UN chief Guterres saddened by flood deaths in India

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is saddened by the deaths and destruction due to the flooding in India, his spokesperson Stephane Dujarricn said on Tuesday.
More than 100 people are reported dead in the flooding from monsoon rains in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Dujarric said: "The Secretary-General is saddened by the loss of life, displacement of people and destruction of property due to monsoon rains and associated flooding in India. He extends his condolences and solidarity to the families of the victims, to the government and people of India and wishes those injured a speedy recovery."
He added that the UN is ready stands to work with the authorities to respond to the humanitarian needs resulting from this ongoing monsoon season.IANS
