SC grants Navlakha four weeks protection from arrest
New Delhi
15-October-2019
The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted four weeks interim protection from arrest to social activist Gautam Navlakha and asked him to move the court concerned for anticipatory bail in the Bhima Koregaon case.
The Maharashtra government placed documents against Navlakha, in a sealed cover, before the Supreme Court while opposing his plea for quashing of FIR in the case.
The apex court observed that the probe is still in progress against Navlakha, therefore it will be premature to quash the proceedings at this stage of the investigation.
The social activist submitted before the court that he is ready to be interrogated, but pleaded for protection from arrest. IANS
