Dereliction in duty: EC removes two officers in Nashik
18-October-2019
Observing "unsatisfactorily performance" in electoral preparedness, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has removed a police observer and a returning officer from Mashrashtra's Nashik, where Assembly polls are scheduled to be held on October 21.
In a statement issued on Friday, the ECI said the police observer was removed for not performing the task of observation "satisfactorily", while the returning officer failed in his role in the progress of photo voter slip distribution.
"On the basis of the input regarding the progress of photo voter slip distribution, which is very important to inform each and every elector timely, it was found that the performance of an Assembly constituency in Nashik district was very poor. Reviewing this, the Commission ordered replacement of the RO (returning officer)," the ECI said.IANS
