TN leaders condole Seshan's death

Political leaders in Tamil Nadu on Monday condoled the death of former Chief Election Commissioner T.N.Seshan.
Seshan passed away on Sunday at the age of 86 at his residence in Chennai.
Chief Minister K.Palaniswami said Seshan brought in several electoral reforms during his tenure as Chief Election Commissioner. "Seshan had served in the government in various postions was a hard worker and able administrator," he added.
DMK President M.K.Stalin also issued a statement saying he exercised all his powers as Chief Election Commissioner to hold independent and honest elections in the country so that electoral democracy shone brightly in India.
Stalin said Seshan was an example for being strict, honest, objective and his death is a big loss not only for the country but also for all those political parties wishing democracy.
Actor and MNM party founder Kamal Hassan tweeted: "T.N. Seshan will be remembered as an embodiment of courage & conviction. It was he who brought the powerful role of the 'Election Commission' into the drawing room discussion of the Common Man."IANS
