13-November-2019
Slamming upcoming Bollywood movie "Panipat", Pakistan's Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhary on Wednesday said that the movie has distrorted historical facts to portray Ahmad Shah Abdali as a "cruel" Muslim ruler.
Ashutosh Gowarikar's "Panipat" revolves around the third battle of Panipat that took place between the Afghans and the Marathas. The film features Arjun Kapoor as Maratha warrior Sadashiv Rao Bhau and Sanjay Dutt as Afghan emperor Ahmad Shah Abdali.
"What else can you expect when stupid people try to rewrite history on RSS ideology. Let's see, what happens next!," Chaudhary tweeted.
Afghan embassy has also raised its concern over Ahmad Shah Abdali's portrayal in the film.
After Dutt released the movie's poster on November 4, former Afghanistan ambassador to India Shaida Abdali also expressed worries on the film.
"Sanjay ji, Indian films have played a major role in strengthening the India-Afghanistan relations. I hope Panipat has been made keeping in mind our cordial history," Shaida said.
Afghanistan Envoy Tahir Qadri has said that he has been in constant touch with the Indian government over the issue.
