Maha team in Rajasthan to study crop loan waiver scheme

A six-member delegation of Maharashtra officials reached Rajasthan on a one-day trip on Thursday to study the state's crop loan waiver scheme, said an official.
The scheme was launched recently by the Ashok Gahlot-led Congress government.
Co-operative Department Registrar Neeraj K. Pawan said: "Principal Secretary of Maharashtra, Co-operative, Abha Shukla; Principal Secretary, Information Technology S.V.R. Srinivas; Government Secretary, Agriculture, Eknath Dawale; and others are in Jaipur to study the loan waiver scheme by the state government.
Pawan said that the delegation is attending a meeting to study the scheme, and its successful and transparent implementation for the benefit of farmers in Maharashtra.
Indar Singh, Managing Director of Apex Bank, informed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the Rajasthan government has waived crop loans of around Rs 8,000 crore benefiting more than 20 lakh farmers linked to the co-operative banks.
The present government has overall provided crop loan waiver of about Rs 15,000 crores for the year 2018-19, he said.IANS
