SC awards 30 grace marks in Haryana judicial exam

The Supreme Court on Friday awarded 30 grace marks in two papers to candidates who took the exam for 107 posts of civil judge (junior division) in Haryana. The top court noted the marking in 2017 examination was strict.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde noted that due to strict marking only nine, of the total 1,195 candidates, were able to qualify for 107 vacancies.

The top court directed the Punjab and Haryana High Court to complete the selection process within four weeks, which includes fresh results for written exam.

The deadline has been fixed for February 15, 2020. The court also observed that vacant seats after this process should be advertised and filled in accordance with the timeline prescribed by the court.

"The Punjab and Haryana High Court through its Registrar General is directed to award 20 grace marks in Civil Law-I paper and 10 grace marks in Civil Law-II paper to all the candidates of 2019 Examination and prepare fresh results of the Main (Written) Examination of Civil Judge (Junior Division) within two weeks and complete the selection process within four weeks thereafter," said the court.

After allotment of grace marks, 60 more candidates including 27 from reserved categories will qualify to viva voce and then total 69 will be considered qualified.IANS
