Kejriwal lays foundation for Ashram flyover extension
24-December-2019
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for an underpass at the Ashram Chowk and for the extension of the Ashram Flyover upto the DND.
The proposal for extending the existing Ashram flyover up to the DND was approved by the Delhi Cabinet earlier this month to provide relief to the daily commuters from the traffic congestion on the bottleneck between the two destinations.
Kejriwal said that since he came to power in 2015, his government has constructed 24 flyovers.
"To provide relief to Delhi from traffic congestion, we engaged a consultant to identify all traffic congestion points and suggest solution for each point," he said.
Kejriwal said the extension of the flyover will fulfill a three-fold objective -- to eradicate the narrow stretch and the choke-point between the Ashram-DND Flyway, decrease the travel time between Noida and Ashram, and decongest the Ashram flyover which is one of the busiest roads in the city, especially during peak hours.
The Chief Minister said the Ashram flyover is heavily congested during peak hours and the Ashram-DND stretch is heavily jammed.IANS
