Modi launches Twitter campaign on CAA; BJP tweets support

In order to garner people's support on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a Twitter campaign.
He wrote on @narendramodi_in: "#IndiaSupportsCAA because CAA is about giving citizenship to persecuted refugees & not about taking anyone's citizenship away. Check out this hashtag in Your Voice section of Volunteer module on NaMo App for content, graphics, videos & more. Share & show your support for CAA."
The post got 1.3K retweets and 2.7K likes while #IndiaSupportsCAA trended on Twitter with 386K Tweets.
BJP leader Meenakashi Lekhi tweeted: "Don't let the power of reason cloud the mind or allow the thinking be hijacked by cruel fanatics. Proud to be an Indian and have a heart to support who continue to suffer in modern times barbarity of Ghazanis, Bukshikans like iconoclasts. #IndiaSupportsCAA."
The office Twitter handle of Union minister Anurag Thakur @Anurag_Office tweeted: "Myth buster. Citizenship Amendment Act 2019. #IndiaSupportsCAA. Read this and clear your doubts."
Himachal Chief Minister Jairam Thakur wrote on @jairamthakurbjp: "There are a lot of rumours and falsity being spread that Indian Muslims will squander their citizenship and the public property being vandalised, it's time to read the act conscientiously and have a civilised discussion."
BJP's IT cell head, Amit Malviya wrote: "'Those worried about where these persecuted refugees would be accommodated, should first make rooms in their hearts!' says this youngster who himself belongs to a Multani migrant family." He also posted a video clip of the youngster with the tweet.
Union minister Smriti Irani retweeted a post from Malviya in which a black-and-white clip of refugees from Bangladesh was tagged.
It read: "You will be shocked to hear the travails of those who fled East Pakistan and are now settled in Bihar's Motihari district. Those opposing the CAA are enemies of humanity. #IndiaSupportsCAA."
