Two more deaths in Maha, positive cases rocket to 259

Coronavirus claimed two more victims in Maharashtra, one in Mumbai and another in Pune, taking the total deaths to 10, even as the number of positive cases zoomed to 259 on Monday, officials said.
A 53-year-old man died with complaints of hypertension and heart problems due to Covid-19 in Pune, while a 78-year old man with complications of diabetes and blood pressure, succumbed in Mumbai. Both breathed their last in private hospitals.
This takes the total Covid-19 toll in Maharashtra to 10, including the first fatality recorded in Pune.
The number of positive cases in the state rockets from 203 on Sunday to a staggering 259 in the past 24 hours, the highest in the country.
There were a total of 47 fresh cases in Mumbai, five in Pune, two in Nagpur, and one each in Kolhapur and Nashik.
Among the deaths, Mumbai has registered 8, while one death has occurred in Buldhana, and another in Pune.
They include a 40-year old woman who died in Mumbai and a 45-year old man from Buldhana both with no history of foreign travel.
Against these, 39 patients who recovered fully have been discharged in the state so far, including from Mumbai, Pune, Yavatmal, Nagpur and Aurangabad.
Presently, 328 patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
As many as 19,161 persons are in 'home quarantine' across the state and 1,224 are in institutional quarantine, including 157 international travellers in Mumbai. IANS
