VIT paid full salaries to its staff even during the COVID-19 pandemic at a time when many institutions were cutting down on salaries or laying off the employees.
Dr. Viswanathan told The Weekend Leader, "The difficult thing in running a good institution is teachers. If you are able to get good teachers then 90% of the problem is solved."
"We pay them well and treat them well," Dr. Viswanathan said, reiterating the institution's commitment to its employees' well-being as a key factor in being able to retain their staff.
VIT is always on the lookout for fresh talent and recruits twice a year, ensuring the institution continuously attracts good teachers from across India.
VIT's efforts extend beyond mere financial compensation. The university also helps new teachers in finding suitable accommodation when they move in to Vellore and finding suitable schools for their children.
"These are the things, small things we do, and they are happy; they work with us," Dr. Viswanathan remarked.
VIT’s faculty members come from almost every Indian state, with the exception of a few states from the Northeast, providing the diversity in the campus, and, fostering a broad and inclusive academic environment. - TWL Bureau
